About Linda
Linda Wiskerchen, MSW, LCSW, RPT-S
… is a licensed clinical social worker-supervisor and registered play therapist-supervisor with the association for play therapy who specializes in the care and treatment of children, adolescents and families. She has dedicated her professional life to understanding and helping children and teens feels better about themselves. Her 20+ years in the mental health field has given her a unique point of view she wants to share here.
Ms. Wiskerchen’s approach focuses on helping children and families bring their lives into balance, and works frequently with youth experiencing anxiety, anger, adjustment issues, impulsivity, social problems, life transitions, and behavioral challenges. Ms. Wiskerchen graduated from Arizona State University where she received her bachelor’s degree in sociology as well as her master’s degree in social work with an emphasis on child welfare.
Ms. Wiskerchen believes that children communicate their needs through their behavior, and works closely with parents and caregivers to develop a deeper understanding of their child’s needs so they can improve parenting practices, strengthen attachment relationships and communicate healthy boundaries. Ms. Wiskerchen utilizes several treatment modalities, including play therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, sand tray therapy, family systems and mindfulness. In addition to therapy, Ms. Wiskerchen offers parent consultation services, as well as coordinating with schools and doctors.
